Ive worked within the science industry (Lab based positions both management and scientist) for over 20yrs. I want to now change career at 40 as I've lost complete interest in working in a lab. environment any more. (This decision has not just come on me but has been developing within me for over 10 of those years ie a feeling of disillusionment working in a laboratory.) Thinking of studying the Dip in Marketing, advertising and public relations at NCI or possibly at Griffith college.... Do you think its a good base for someone changing career in this way? I currently interact with people in marketing regularly and the things that strikes me is that they have a very poor understanding of science, chemistry etc which as far as I can see acts as a disadvantage to them when making marketing decisions. These are part-time courses for sept '09 to jun'10 and both also run a "fast-track" version in Jan '10. Which version is best to do? Is the fast track equal to the longer version?
Are there any similiar courses to check out before making a decision on them? Or is the Dip above a good rounded choice for some one as myself making a mid career change?
