Study Nursing part-time?

Postby Bambi05880 » Wed Apr 14, 2010 10:06 am

Does anyone know if it's possible to study nursing part-time?
I'm a single mother, almost 30 with 2 kids and mortgage. I have a job I like, in the science/research industry, however I've always wanted to be a nurse. I applied and was accepted to nursing when leaving school, however I felt at the time I wasn't ready so I took a different course. In the mean time I fell pregnant and concentrated on doing well with my current job and raising my children.
I still have that desire to be a nurse, i've huge interest in science, nurtured by my current job in research, however i left college before qualifying with any degree or diploma and have relied on my experience so far. I would love to combine my interest in science with my love of people and of helping people. I really feel nursing is what i'm cut out for. however, due to having house and children, i'm not in a position to give up work to attend full time education.
Is it possible to study nursing via any distance learning of part-time means? I understand the practical level would require more time to get experience with patients etc, which is a bridge i hope to cross when i come to it...
any advice or recommendation would be very grateful,
yours
